Community Foundation Seeks Content Associate
The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation is seeking a Content Associate to join its Marketing and Grant Program teams. A full job description is below. The application deadline is Monday, September 10, 2018 at noon.
Title: Content Associate
Type of position: Full-time, Exempt
Reports to: Director of Marketing and Communication
Purpose
The Content Associate is the primary writer and editor on the Marketing and Communications team at the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation. The position is responsible for writing informative and inspiring content to promote philanthropy and impactful grantmaking in our community through research and storytelling. In addition to marketing content, the position works closely with the Director of Grant Programs to provide writing, research and analytical support to grant programs.
Responsibilities
Marketing and Communications
- Creates written content for marketing and communication tools including, but not limited to: newsletters, annual report, advertisements, brochures, donor materials, grant materials, e-communications, social media, website, invitations, event scripts and other speeches
- Coordinates and conducts interviews to create compelling stories in video and print formats about donors and nonprofits in our community that work together to address challenges and opportunities
- Researches information to develop content and story ideas
- Ensures all content supports Community Foundation brand and marketing strategies
- Coordinates photography for marketing purposes
- Writes and coordinates social media content, planning and execution
- Writes website content, as needed
- Writes news releases and guest opinions, as needed; helps to identify opportunities for media coverage
- Edits all marketing and communications content, as well as content from other teams, as needed
- Provides support for planning and execution of Community Foundation events and other marketing projects, as needed
- Seeks and participates in professional development opportunities
Grant Programs
- Reviews and analyzes competitive donor-advised grant applications, formulates follow-up questions and creates informative reviews to assist donor-advisors with grantmaking
- Evaluates grant reports, assesses and documents results in order to provide rich content for our community and donors
- Provides research and support for international grantmaking
- Assists with donor stewardship when research and writing are needed to support corporate and family donors

- Self-starting and able to work independently
- Ability to cultivate positive relationships and be helpful and courteous to colleagues and community members
- Knowledge and experience in effective social media and electronic communications
- Computer knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications, or marketing; or equivalent experience
- Minimum of three years of experience in related field
Work Hours
- Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (with one-hour lunch)
