Donors Supporting Education

For donors interested in supporting education, there are several giving options to explore.  We encourage you to contact the Community Foundation to learn how we can help you fulfill your charitable intentions.

The Fund for Educational Excellence:

The endowed Fund for Educational Excellence (FFEE) was created in 1990 by a group of business, school, and private community leaders for the benefit of Linn County K-12 students.  Since that time FFEE has annually made grant awards to support teachers in creative, innovative, and effective classroom projects.

In 2015, the Community Foundation began a partnership with, a nonprofit organization that makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need, to match gifts to help fund classroom projects in Linn County, Iowa.  Linn County public school teachers have the opportunity to submit classroom project requests to; donors are able to give any amount to the projects that inspire them; and the Community Foundation provides a 1:1 match for each donation for projects totaling $2,000 or less.

For the 2017-2018 school year, the Community Foundation had $25,000 of funding available. Sixty-eight teachers participated from 25 schools in Linn County. Eighty-one projects were funded – reaching 5,880 students. The funding for the match was used up by October 13, 2017.
