The Neumeyer Family
Why is charitable giving important to you?
Debbie: Philanthropy has been something that both of us and our families have been engaged with for generations, and we are trying to instill that in future generations as well. This is something that is very important and high priority and we try to incorporate that in as many different ways as we can.
What are your charitable passions?
Debbie: Right now, one of our greatest passions is healthcare-related. Our son was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes about two years ago, and since then, we have become very engaged with that. And are very interested in research and funding that.
Why did you give through the Community Foundation?
Greg: I have been familiar with the work of the Community Foundation and the fact that it will be here forever. At that time where we will no longer be here to direct where the funding will go, future committees and boards will make those decisions. And will be able to direct it to where the greatest need in the community is.
I have almost watched it grow up over the last many years. It is amazing to me to see the impact that it has today that is so much more significant than it was many years ago. By everyone coming together and using a vehicle like the Community Foundation, it allows all our gifts and resources to be pooled together and then placed where the greatest need is and have the biggest impact.
What do you want your giving to achieve?
Debbie: We want to make an impact on others and the community and different needs that the community has. We also are hoping to set an example and teach our children, and then hopefully they can teach their kids, that giving and service and charity is so important.
