Community foundations create opportunities for rural counties to direct philanthropic resources locally. The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation supports the development of foundations in Wapello County and Washington County which have embraced the community foundation model as a vehicle for donors to invest in the communities they call home.
With affiliate endowment funds, these communities are growing strong, sustainable sources of income for schools, churches, healthcare centers and other local needs.
