When you support Big Brothers Big Sisters, you empower youth in your community to achieve their full potential. Personal relationships are essential to life, helping us all navigate the joys and hardships we experience. Mentors help shape youth by supporting their mental health, empowering their educational journey, and together building friendships that last a lifetime.
Big Brothers Big Sisters proudly serves over 400 youth and families in Cedar Rapids & East Central Iowa empowering youth to reach their full potential. Of those we serve 82% achieved their educational goals (increased reading and math levels, improved attendance, educational understanding, and grade point average), 73% improved their Social-Emotional Skills (problem-solving, self-regulation, impulse control, empathy), and 93% avoided risky behaviors such as skipping class or school, using alcohol or illegal drugs, or engaging in violence.
