ABOUT

  1. Voodoo Chile

The Eastern Iowa Arts Academy is a vibrant and inclusive community that embraces individuals of all ages and abilities, including autistic children and mentally handicapped adults. Our academy is dedicated to providing accessible arts education to everyone, regardless of their financial circumstances. We offer no-questions-asked financial aid options for our K-12 students, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to participate in our programs.

In our nurturing environment, students can explore various artistic disciplines such as music, dance, theater, and visual arts. We have a youth Rock Academy program with eight rock bands, and our adult programming not only fosters artistic growth but also supports the community by providing financial aid for children.

We were founded in 2007 with a vision to celebrate arts for life. Since then, we have developed these ten essential core beliefs that capture the base and structure of our organization.

Inclusivity: We believe in creating a welcoming and supportive environment that celebrates the diversity of individuals and perspectives, fostering an inclusive arts community where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered.

Equity: We are committed to breaking down financial barriers and ensuring equitable access to arts education and opportunities for all children, regardless of socio-economic status, background, or ability, fostering a level playing field for artistic expression and growth.

Creativity: We embrace and encourage the freedom of artistic expression, valuing imagination, innovation, and the exploration of new ideas, nurturing creativity as a powerful tool for personal development.

Excellence: We strive for excellence in all aspects of our programs, maintaining high standards of artistic quality, professionalism, and integrity, empowering individuals to reach their full potential and achieve artistic excellence while supporting local artists and musicians.

Collaboration: We value collaboration as a key driver of artistic growth and community building, fostering partnerships with Iowa artists, educators, human service agencies, and the wider Corridor community to create meaningful artistic experiences and opportunities for mutual learning and inspiration.

Lifelong Learning: We promote a culture of lifelong learning, encouraging individuals of all ages to engage in continuous artistic growth and development, providing a nurturing environment that supports personal exploration, skill enhancement, and artistic discovery.

Community Engagement: We actively engage with the Eastern Iowa community, promoting arts education, public performances, and community events that celebrate the talents of our students, fostering a sense of pride, connection, and cultural enrichment.

Empowerment: We believe in the transformative power of the arts to empower individuals, fostering self-confidence, self-expression, and personal growth, enabling individuals to find their voice, embrace their unique talents, and positively impact their lives and communities.

Accessibility: We are dedicated to ensuring accessibility by removing physical, financial, and social barriers, making our programs and facilities inclusive and welcoming to individuals of all abilities, backgrounds, and circumstances.

Inspiration: We aim to instill a sense of joy, wonder, and inspiration in all those we serve, fostering a lifelong love for the arts and leaving a lasting impact on the lives of individuals, families, and our broader community.

These values guide our decisions, actions, and interactions, shaping the Eastern Iowa Arts Academy as a beacon of artistic excellence, inclusion, and empowerment in the Eastern Iowa region.
