Celebrating 75 Years of Serving Linn County

In 2024, the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation celebrated 75 years of fostering philanthropy and supporting nonprofits in Linn County. Anniversary celebrations featured several notable events.

On August 7, the Foundation hosted a Block Party, offering free lunches from local food trucks and unveiling a new mural on the building. The mural, created by local artist Scott Takes of Underground Art Studios, pays homage to the roots of philanthropy.

On August 10, the Community Foundation sponsored a Free Admission Day to arts and cultural institutions throughout Linn County.

Throughout the celebrations, the Community Foundation also gathered input and feedback from donors, nonprofits and community members to inform a new strategic plan. Designed with this feedback in mind, the plan will guide the Community Foundation’s work for the next five years. The plan will be shared with the public early in 2025.

The 75th anniversary celebrations served as a great reminder of how many passionate individuals have come together over the years to make our organization and community what it is today. Thank you to all who were able to help us mark this milestone anniversary—we look forward to serving Linn County for many more years to come!
