The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation announces a new addition to its competitive grantmaking funds. The Cedar Grove Signature Fund, established by an anonymous donor, will accept its first round of applications on Thursday, October 1, 2020 by 4:30 p.m. CST.

Signature Funds are offered by the Community Foundation as an alternative to a private foundation for donors with significant charitable assets. These funds offer donors an independent identity, enhanced investment options, simplified administration and a high level of personal service to help them meet their charitable goals. Grants from Signature Funds are donor-driven. The funding priorities, exclusions, decision-making and timing of grant awards are all determined by the donor.

This is the first Signature Fund established at the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation.

The Cedar Grove Signature Fund will support organizations in all nonprofit sectors that impact the quality of life in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. However, human services, education, and arts and culture will be the primary focus. Nonprofit organizations with a 501(c)(3) status are eligible to apply for program needs, capital campaign funding, event sponsorships, or projects that build efficiencies in the organization’s management systems and structures. Religious activities for religious purposes are not eligible.

The anonymous donor appreciates new approaches to solving problems, and grants will typically range from $10,000 to $50,000. Successful applications will have clear objectives and metrics. Applications will be accepted beginning Tuesday, September 1.

A virtual information session will be held on Thursday, September 3, at 1:00 p.m. Elizabeth Cwik, Senior Program Officer at the Community Foundation, will answer questions about eligibility, funding priorities and the application process. To register, click here.
