Because of donors who care about education, the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation has funding available to support classroom education projects in Linn County public schools for grades K-12 that cannot be funded through the school’s budget.

The Community Foundation has partnered with DonorsChoose to match gifts to help fund classroom projects in Linn County, Iowa.  DonorsChoose is a nonprofit organization that makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need.

How it works:  Public school teachers create classroom project requests; donors can give any amount to the projects that inspire them; and the Community Foundation provides a 1:1 match for donations to projects of $2,000 or less.

Each year the Community Foundation has $25,000 available in matching funds from its Fund for Educational Excellence.

The 2022 match from the Community Foundation became available on DonorsChoose on August 1, 2022, and it was completed on September 26, 2002, having supported 109 teacher projects at 24 schools in Linn County. To see projects funded in 2022, click here.
