Our Mission: The Sustainable Iowa Land Trust (SILT) is dedicated to protecting working farms to grow healthy food. Our Vision: To bring back a mix of different types of farms in Iowa, growing a variety of crops, including fresh food for people to eat.

ABOUT
The Sustainable Iowa Land Trust (SILT) mission is to permanently protect Iowa’s farmland for sustainable food farming and create land access opportunities for new and beginning farmers. One of our target communities is Cedar Rapids, as a part of our “Circle our Cities” campaign that aims to protect farmland in and around Iowa’s fastest growing cities. Your support makes agricultural land accessible to farmers committed to sustainable practices that support our soil, water, and food systems. SILT currently protects 1200 acres of farmland across Iowa. Your support enables us to expand land protection efforts, provide farmer support, and strengthen Cedar Rapids’ local food economy.
