It broke our hearts to see the final days of the early-1900s “Queen of Hearts” mansion in Marshalltown, but our volunteers saved Queen Anne windows, arched windows, vintage doors, unique ornamental lintels (those wooden “toppers” above windows and doors); an antique medicine cabinet; doorknobs and more. Stop by our Heartbreaker Salvage Sale from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, for these items, along with vintage sinks, light fixtures, doors and more rescued from other homes slated for demolition. Cash or check preferred. Proceeds benefit the J.E. Halvorson House, 606 Fifth Ave. SE, where the sale is held.
