Endow Iowa Tax Credit Facing Elimination
As a trusted partner and supporter, we want to inform you of a recent proposal in the Iowa Legislature that would eliminate the Endow Iowa tax credit program on June 30, 2025.
Since its inception in 2004, Endow Iowa has provided millions in annual tax credits, encouraging charitable giving to causes that directly benefit communities across Iowa. We know many of our donors have appreciated this program, which has helped strengthen nonprofit initiatives throughout the state.
What’s Next?
The proposal is part of the Iowa Economic Development Authority bill and will first be reviewed by the Iowa House and Senate Ways and Means Committees. If it passes both the subcommittee and full committee, the full state legislature will vote on the elimination of Endow Iowa later this spring.
What Are We Doing?
We are working closely with community foundation colleagues across the state to ask our legislators to remove Division XIII of House Study Bill 305 and Senate Study Bill 1205.
We have also been reaching out to our Linn County representatives on the Ways and Means Committees to emphasize the positive impact this program has had in Linn County and throughout our state.
What Can You Do?
If you – or your clients – are considering a gift that qualifies for Endow Iowa tax credits, we strongly encourage you to act soon. Should the legislature vote to eliminate the program later this spring, there will be limited time to secure tax credits before the proposed elimination date of June 30, 2025. To maximize the benefits of the program while it is still available, we urge you to begin the giving process today.
