CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation has partnered with the United Way of East Central Iowa to sponsor a free screening of the film UnCharitable at the Cedar Rapids Public Library on Monday, October 21, 2024. The screening is open to local nonprofits and community members, and serves as an official pre-conference event of the Iowa Nonprofit Alliance’s Iowa Nonprofit Summit, being held in Cedar Rapids on October 22. Other event partners include the Association of Fundraising Professionals-Eastern Iowa Chapter, Iowa Humane Alliance, and The Gazette.

About the Film

After three incredibly successful U.S. charitable campaigns were attacked by charity watchdogs, destroying lives and cutting off precious resources, many of the top influencers in the field knew something had to be done to overhaul the nonprofit sector.

Led by Dan Pallotta, whose record-breaking TED Talk on the subject has inspired leading philanthropists and changemakers, this feature-length documentary delivers an emotional journey that moves, persuades and inspires its audience to change the way we think about giving. UnCharitable explores the idea of freeing charities from outdated constraints to truly change the world. No topic is more crucial and timelier as we confront an increasingly unstable world with the growing revelation that we are all interconnected and that our fate lies in how much we are willing to invest in positive change.
