Key responsibilities include customer service support and stewardship for donors and fundholders, gift processing, donor acknowledgement, database management and reporting.

The salary range for this position is $40,000 – $46,000, depending upon experience

DONOR RELATIONS ASSOCIATE JOB DESCRIPTION 

CLASSIFICATION:  Full-time, Exempt  

REPORTS TO: Senior Director of Development Services 

SUMMARY:  The Donor Relations Associate provides support to the Development Team. This includes  assistance with donor stewardship through donor fund management, philanthropic team support and operational support. Other key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, gift processing, donor acknowledgement, creation of donor stewardship reports and letters, Endow Iowa Tax Credit program processing, maintenance of the donor database and donor record upkeep.    

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:   

Donor Support 

Provides timely response and support for donors.   

  • Functions as the Account Manager of selected donor funds. 
  • Handles verbal and written inquiries from current fund holders requesting assistance with fund development.
  • Primary point of contact to field donor and prospect calls. 
  • Works with Development Officers as part of a Philanthropic Advising Team for select individual and corporate donors. 
  • Participates in donor meetings with a Development Officer. 
  • Prepares materials and reports for meetings with fund holders and prospective donors. 
  • Assists with donor related mailings and correspondence. 
  • Utilizes CRM and Events modules in the iPhi system. 

Development Support 

Provides general administrative support for the Development Team. 

  • Provides support for gift processing, donor gift acknowledgement letters, Endow Iowa applications and donor welcome information.  
  • Reviews newspaper daily for information on donors and notifies the appropriate Development staff of news.   
  • Generates weekly reports of entered contributions and Development Team activity for review. 
  • Assists with database maintenance, reports, and mail/email lists. 
  • Assists with Development Donor Material Menu. 
  • Assists with Endow Iowa Tax Credit program processing. 
  • Helps maintain guest lists and provide other administrative support associated with Development events. 
  • Helps prepare for team meetings and events such as materials, meal orders, room reservations, room set-up/clean-up, and RSVPs. 
  • Participates in and supports the Development Committee as needed. Prepares meeting minutes as needed. 
  • Participates in and supports Community Foundation events. 
  • Provides administrative support to the Development Team members as needed.   

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complies with all Community Foundation policies. 
  • Maintains confidentiality as defined in the Community Foundation Confidentiality Policy. 
  • Ensures compliance with IRS, ICoF and COF National Standards. 
  • Follows emergency plan in crisis situations 
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and professional manner, both in appearance and actions in carrying out job responsibilities. 
  • Attends and participates in Community Foundation meetings as directed. 
  • Promotes a team concept by being courteous, helpful and supportive to other employees and all Community Foundation audiences. 
  • Maintains scheduled work hours and notifies supervisor personally of absences. 
  • Completes/submits forms related to payroll and human resources accurately and on time to supervisor. 
  • Maintains the cleanliness of the work environment. 
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  NA   

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:  Full-time, office hours, flexible work arrangements.  

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:   

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.  
  • Experience with iPhi Core Enterprise or other donor development software, strongly preferred. 
  • Experience with and knowledge of community foundations, charitable giving, fund management and the nonprofit sector preferred.
