Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation Approves Over $4 Million in Grants
The Board of Directors of the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation recently approved over $4 million in grants to more than 125 nonprofit organizations. The awards include competitive Organization Support Grants, Program Support Grants, and President’s Grants; as well as distributions from donor-advised, designated, scholarship and agency funds. This also includes a $200,000 grant from the Creating Safe, Equitable and Thriving Communities (SET) Fund. This grant, awarded to Foundation 2 Crisis Services, will support the implementation of Group Violence Intervention (GVI) strategies in Cedar Rapids.
The Community Foundation brings together private philanthropy with impactful nonprofits to support a healthy and vibrant Linn County. In 2021, the Community Foundation distributed over $13.9 million in grants.
The Community Foundation’s competitive grant programs are supported by gifts from donors who have entrusted the Community Foundation to make grants that address ever-changing community needs and opportunities. The funds support efforts related to innovation, maintaining success, and building capacity through a competitive grantmaking process. During this grant cycle, the Community Foundation received over $2.4 million in requests for competitive grants and was able to fund $1,066,933 (or 44% of the requested amount).
