ABOUT
Harmony School of Music is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Cedar Rapids whose mission is to transform lives through inclusive music education. Our orchestra program is offered free of charge to all families, with the option to contribute financially if they are in the position to do so. More than 80% of our families report that they would not have access to high-quality orchestra programming without Harmony School, either because their schools do not offer orchestra or they do not have the financial means.
Harmony School programs include orchestra, music literacy, and private lessons for students in grades 4-8. All classes are offered free-of-charge, including instrument rental. Students give back to the community through free performances several times per year. In addition, we offer internship experiences for high school and college students. Harmony School is a Los Angeles Philharmonic Partner in Music Learning and is a member of El Sistema USA, the El Sistema World Congress, and the National Guild for Community Arts Education. With these partnerships and hard work, high-achieving students have access to music camp and college scholarships.
