SUMMARY:Nonprofit Know-How: Governance\, Advocacy\, and Leadership Heading Into 2027
DESCRIPTION:Nonprofit leaders are navigating a time of significant change—and finding that some of the most effective ways to meet this moment are surprisingly simple\, though not necessarily easy. This interactive session will explore intentional strategies and tactics nonprofit leaders are using to strengthen their organizations\, relationships\, and influence as we head into a new year. \nParticipants will explore how to: \n\nMake sense of the moment by identifying legal\, policy\, and sector trends that matter to their organizations.\nUse their voice effectively by understanding the distinctions—and opportunities—in advocating for their mission.\nBuild the board they need through more intentional approaches to recruitment\, engagement\, and development.\nStrengthen the CEO/Board Chair partnership by focusing on the practices that build clarity\, trust\, and shared leadership.\nDevelop relationships before they’re needed through purposeful networking with policymakers\, funders\, partners\, and community leaders.\nPut simple ideas into practice by identifying a few high-leverage actions participants can adapt to their own organizations.\n\nPresenter: Paul Thelen\, JD\, Director of Larned A. Waterman Iowa Nonprofit Resource Center at the University of Iowa \n\n\n\n\nRegister Here\n\n\n\nMore About Nonprofit Know-How

SUMMARY:Storytellers of Cedar Rapids: The Gift of "_______"
DESCRIPTION:Matthew 25 presents Storytellers of Cedar Rapids: The Gift of [_____]\, a special addition to this year’s lineup during the holiday season!\n\nJoin us on Wednesday\, December 16\, for an evening of authentic\, heartfelt\, funny\, and often surprising true stories shared live on stage.\n\nThe holidays have a way of reminding us that some of the most meaningful gifts don’t come wrapped in a box. The gift of friendship. A second chance. An unexpected kindness. A lesson we didn’t know we needed. Maybe even a gift that changed everything.\n\nThe Gift of [________] leaves the blank open for our storytellers to fill as they share true stories about the gifts—given\, received\, discovered\, or unexpected—that have stayed with them.\n\nNo two Storytellers events are ever the same. One story may have you laughing out loud\, while the next may move you or offer a completely new perspective. Every show also features live music from local artists and an opportunity for audience members to step up and share during Open Mic.\n\nThis December 16 show will feature storytellers from past shows plus a special musical guest.\n\nSnacks and beverages will be available from Groundswell Cafe.\n\nShow begins at 7:30 PM (doors open at 7:00 PM)\nLocation: Groundswell\, 201 3rd Ave SW\nTickets\n\n Adult Single Show Ticket: $15\n Student Single Show Ticket: $7\n\nPlease note that all ticket sales are final and non-refundable. We appreciate your understanding.\n\nCome for the stories. Leave with something to talk about.
