Pursuing an Economy that Works for All

The Community Foundation envisions a Linn County where all people thrive. Achieving this vision requires building an economy that invites participation and cultivates equitable prosperity. The Community Foundation provides convening support and funding to community efforts that work toward this long-term vision.

Creating Safe, Equitable and Thriving Communities

A 2017 report from the Creating Safe, Equitable and Thriving Communities (SET) Task Force made recommendations for addressing systemic causes of youth violence, including improving economic opportunity and access to youth development programs. The Community Foundation has administered the SET Fund since 2019 and remains committed to the goals outlined by the SET Task Force.

MICRO Loan Program

In 2015, the Community Foundation partnered with local government groups and nonprofits to launch MICRO, a program aimed at supporting entrepreneurs and spurring small business development. The program provides a revolving loan and supportive coaching resources to help local entrepreneurs make their business ideas and dreams come true. This innovative collaboration received the Secretary’s Award for Public-Philanthropic Partnership from U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in 2018. The program is administered by the East Central Iowa Council of Governments.
