Community Foundation Now Taking Nominations for the 2023 Thrive Cohort Peer Group

At the Community Learning Series on November 10, the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation announced plans for the 2023 Thrive Cohort Peer Group. The 2023 version of the Thrive Cohort offers an adjusted model to support emerging Black and Brown leaders in the nonprofit sector.

The 2023 Thrive Cohort Peer Group will provide support for emerging Black, Brown, and Biracial nonprofit leaders. Thrive offers relationship building, networking, and learning for nonprofit professionals to foster career development within the sector. This initiative is part of the Community Foundation’s efforts to advance racial equity by helping nonprofit organizations close the racial leadership gap and diversify nonprofit staff and managerial teams.

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Works at a Linn County nonprofit organization OR is a is a founder/leader/volunteer of a grassroots organization who is not an employee but investing significant time and resources.
  • Is Black, Brown, Bi-racial.

NOMINATION & SELECTION

Potential Cohort members can nominate themselves or someone else can nominate them to participate. We request that nominees complete the Indication of Interest form. Our staff will follow up with all nominees via phone call.

EXPECTATIONS

  • Actively participate in eight Cohort meetings in 2023. Meetings will be held monthly throughout the year during the workday.
  • Engages in regular communication with fellow cohort members and Community Foundation staff.

BENEFITS

  • Cohort features a mix of intentional learning and connection.
  • Includes professional development reimbursement grant up to $2,500 per participant paid to participant’s organization allowing for travel to a national or regional conference or other training opportunity.
