The Youth POWER program provides funds to community projects that promote a positive environment for Linn County youth.
Each year, the Youth POWER Board, a group of students from the Linn County area supported by the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation, are given $10,000 to grant to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization or youth led charitable projects in Linn County.
The board funds projects and organizations that strive to meet the needs of our community’s youth. In choosing the recipients, the board does not discriminate against age, gender, ethnic origin, religion, or lifestyle.
After reviewing applications, board members conduct interviews with applicants, and then determine the organizations that will receive funding. Priority is given to projects that involve youth in their planning and implementation.
The following activities will not be considered for funding from the Youth POWER Board: For profit activities Support of individuals, travel, political lobbying or legislative activities Events or activities that have already occurred Religious activities of religious institutions.
All applicants will be asked to attend a brief interview with the Youth POWER Board. Interviews typically last no more than 15 minutes.
Student-led organizations may also apply for funding. Please download the guidelines and application below due Feb. 13, 2009.
