Scholarship Applications for the 2010-2011 School Year

The final deadline for scholarship applications is March 15, 2010.

Please review the Scholarship Guidelines prior to drafting and submitting your scholarship application to ensure you are considered for all the awards for which you may qualify.






STEPHEN BONFIG MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Typical Award Amount $1,000

  • Awarded to a graduating senior of Dubuque Wahlert Catholic High School with a positive academic record (over 3.00 GPA).
  • Applicants should demonstrate contributed leadership and service through activities while in high school.
  • Must attend the University of Northern Iowa to major in accounting or business finance.
  • Applications must be submitted to the Wahlert Catholic High School Guidance Counselor.

Stephen Bonfig Memorial Scholarship

COLLEGE CLUB OF CEDAR RAPIDS SCHOLARSHIP
Typical Award Amount $500

  • Must be a graduating high school senior from a public or private high school located in the Cedar Rapids/College Community/Linn-Mar/Marion school district.
  • For pursuit of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in Iowa.
  • Must rank in the top 1/3 of graduating class.
  • Must demonstrate financial need (EFC required).
  • Participation in extra-curricular activities inside and outside of school.
  • Applicants should have a clear sense of their career goals.

Typical Award Amount $500

  • Awarded to child of an attendee of the former Lincoln Community High.
  • Awarded to an entering Freshman at an accredited vocational school, community college, college or university.

DELAWARE COUNTY FISH & GAME SCHOLARSHIP
Typical Award Amount $1,000

  • Awarded to a graduate of West Delaware, Maquoketa Valley or Edgewood-Colesburg School District.
  • Must have a 2.5 GPA.
  • Priority given to students who wish to pursue a career that supports land stewardship and/ or conservation.
  • Must attend an accredited junior college, technical school, community college, college or university.

Typical Award Amount $500

  • Awarded to a Lone Tree School District senior who has been active in the Future Farmers of America.
  • Must attend an accredited vocational/ technical school, community college, college or university in Iowa.

EASTERN IOWA CASH MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP
Typical Award Amount $1,000

  • Awarded to a junior or a student who has completed the junior year at Iowa State University , The University of Iowa or The University of Northern Iowa.
  • Applicant must be majoring in finance and/or accounting.
  • Applicant must have a 3.0 or above cumulative GPA.

Eastern Iowa Cash Management Scholarship

O.J. AND VIOLA N. ELSENBAST SCHOLARSHIP
Typical Award Amount $3,000 paid over two years

  • Awarded to a needy and worthy high school graduate of the Graettinger Community School District.
  • Must demonstrate financial need (EFC required).
  • The scholarship is renewable for a second year based upon academic performance.

  • Awarded to a graduating Linn County high school senior or resident of Linn County who has attained a GED.
  • Demonstrated community mindedness, respect and consideration for others by participation in community organizations or other appropriate attestation.
  • Must be accepted as a full-time undergraduate or post-graduate student at an accredited vocational school, technical school, community college, college or university.

Typical Award Amount $750

  • Awarded to a graduate of Washington High School.
  • Consideration is given for demonstrated community involvement, extra-curricular activities and ability to rise above adversity with grace and compassion.
  • Preference is given to those who also attended Johnson School of the Arts.
  • Applications must be submitted to your Washington High School Counselor.

KLEIMAN FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
Typical Award Amount Full tuition, not to exceed $5,000.

  • Awarded to a senior from Cedar Rapids Washington, Jefferson, Kennedy or Xavier High School or from the Linn-Mar, College Community or Marion school districts.
  • Must attend Iowa State University, The University of Iowa or The University of Northern Iowa.
  • Must demonstrate financial need (EFC required).
  • The scholarship is renewable for up to three years based upon the recipient’s achievement and performance.
  • Applications must be submitted to your high school counselor.

KOMENSKY SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP
Typical Award Amount $500

  • Awarded to a graduate of any public, private or parochial high school within Linn County.
  • Preference given to applicants with some Czech, Slovak or Moravian heritage.
  • Must demonstrate financial need (EFC required).
  • Must attend a college, university or other qualified vocational educational institution in the State of Iowa.

Komensky Society Scholarship

LAVENZ MEMORIAL INCOURAGE SCHOLARSHIP
Typical Award Amount $1,000

  • Awarded to students that have demonstrated courage, perseverance, and resilience in the face of medical adversity in the form of cancer or another serious or life-threatening illness or injury with themselves or in their immediate family during their high-school career.
  • Awarded to a graduating Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School senior or recent (less than 2 years) graduates of Kennedy that were forced to postpone additional education because of their medical hardship.
  • Must attend a two or four-year accredited undergraduate institution in Iowa.
  • Applications must be submitted to your Kennedy High School Counselor.

Typical Award Amount $1,000

  • Must be a graduating high school senior from a public or private high school in Linn County.
  • Must attend an accredited college, university or vocational school in the US.
  • Must rank in the top 1/3 of graduating class and have a GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Must demonstrate exemplary leadership skills both in and outside the school environment.
  • Applicants should illustrate their character, judgment, dependability, involvement in activities, teamwork and self-sacrifice above and beyond the call of duty.

  • Awarded to a senior in the Cedar Rapids School District
  • Must be accepted as a full-time undergraduate or post-graduate student at an accredited vocational school, technical school, community college, college or university.
  • Awards are based on merit and financial need. Must demonstrate financial need (EFC required).

  • Awarded to a graduating senior or post-secondary student who has lost through death or other tragic circumstance one or both parents.
  • Must demonstrate financial need (EFC required).
  • Renewable based on academic performance.

The Bob Bengtson Good Citizenship Award & Scholarship for Students of Truman Elementary School

  • Provides annual recognition of an outstanding, last-year grade student enrolled in the Truman Elementary School in the Cedar Rapids Community School District of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
  • The scholarship shall be made available to the selected student to assist with expenses in obtaining education beyond the high school level. 
  •  A Selection Committee, headed by the Principal of Truman Elementary School, will identify the selected recipient.
