The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation administers several scholarships funds. These scholarship funds provide opportunities for young people to achieve a higher education. These funds are diverse, fulfilling the wishes of donors, both living and deceased, who want to provide needed financial support to promising students. Applications are available for download on the Scholarship Forms page on this website or may be obtained by contacting your high school guidance counselor.

ALL-McKINLEY ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP Established in 1993 for students attending McKinley Middle School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The selection is based upon outstanding academic achievement, sound character, good citizenship and capable leadership. Please contact the McKinley Principal for more information.
THE BOB BENGTSON GOOD CITIZENSHIP AWARD & SCHOLARSHIP FOR STUDENTS OF TRUMAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Provides annual recognition of an outstanding, last-year grade student enrolled in the Truman Elementary School in the Cedar Rapids Community School District of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The scholarship shall be made available to the selected student to assist with expenses in obtaining education beyond the high school level. In general, Mr. Bengtson, a former teacher at Truman Elementary School, has created this endowed program to encourage development in elementary students of those qualities and virtues exemplary of the best of American citizenship. A Selection Committee, headed by the Principal of Truman Elementary School, will identify the selected recipient.
STEPHEN BONFIG MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Typical Award Amount: $1,000 Established in 2007 by TrueNorth Companies, in the memory of Mr. Stephen Bonfig, to provide scholarships for a graduating senior of Dubuque Wahlert Catholic High School with a positive academic record who demonstrated contributed leadership and service through activities while in high school. Applicants must attend the University of Northern Iowa to major in accounting or business finance. Applications must be submitted to the Wahlert Catholic High School Guidance Counselor.
THE COLLEGE CLUB OF CEDAR RAPIDS SCHOLARSHIP Typical Award Amount: $500 Established in 1994 to support deserving and eligible students in their pursuit of a baccalaureate degree from colleges or universities located in the Continental USA. This scholarship is awarded to graduating high school seniors from public or private high schools located in the Cedar Rapids/College Community/Linn-Mar/Marion school districts. Must rank in the top 1/3 of graduating class and have participation in extra-curricular activities inside and outside of school. Applicants should have a clear sense of their career goals and demonstrate financial need.
THE JOE CORBIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Typical Award Amount: $500 Established in 2002 by Paul and Sara Corbin, to provide financial assistance for post secondary education for children of attendees of the former Lincoln Community High School who will be freshmen at an accredited vocational school, community college, college or university.
THE DELAWARE COUNTY FISH AND GAME PROTECTIVE ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP Typical Award Amount: $1,000 Established in 2004 to provide scholarships to graduates of West Delaware, Maquoketa Valley or Edgewood-Colesburg School Districts. The scholarship is awarded to students seeking a degree at an accredited institution of higher education with priority given to applicants pursuing a career in land stewardship and/or conservation. Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA or higher.

THE ROBERT K. DENNIS SCHOLARSHIP Typical Award Amount: $500 Established in 2001 by Eloise Dennis, in recognition of her husband, Robert Dennis, for his role in the creation of the Lone Tree School District chapter of the FFA. The scholarship shall provide for post-high school education for a graduating senior of the Lone Tree School District who has been active in the Future Farmers of America and must attend an accredited vocational/technical school, community college, college or university. If the Future Farmers of America ceases to be in existence, the scholarship will be used to support rural/farm students in the Lone Tree School District.
O.J. AND VIOLA N. ELSENBAST SCHOLARSHIP Typical Award Amount: $3,000 paid out over two years Established in 1991 by Mr. O.J. Elsenbast. This scholarship is awarded to needy and worthy high school graduates of the Graettinger Community School District or its legal successor. Applicant must demonstrate financial need. The scholarship is renewable for a second year based upon the recipient’s academic performance.
THE CHARLES AND EDITH GLIDDEN SCHOLARSHIP Typical Award Amount: $1,000 Established in 2003 from the estates of Charles and Edith Glidden, to commemorate their interests in young people, their belief that education is a key component of responsible citizenship, and their desire to provide opportunities for students of all social and economic groups. The scholarship will be awarded to graduating Linn County high school seniors or residents of Linn County who have attained a GED certificate. Awards will be based on demonstrated community mindedness, respect and consideration for others by participation in community organizations or other appropriate attestation. Recipient must be accepted as a full-time undergraduate or post-graduate student at a fully accredited, non-profit, vocational school, technical school, community college, college, or university.
THE IOWA PHYSICIAN'S ASSISTANT SOCIETY'S SCHOLARSHIP Established in 1993 by the Iowa Physician’s Assistant Society to provide recognition and financial support to deserving students preparing for careers as licensed Physician’s Assistants. Such scholarships will be awarded to students who have been accepted for admission and are enrolled full-time in CAHEA-approved Physician’s Assistant (graduate) Programs at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa, or the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa. Each fall the IPAS Selection Committee shall distribute information and the application to Iowa Physician’s Assistant Programs regarding the availability of IPAS Scholarships. CAROLE JAMIESON SPIRIT SCHOLARSHIP Typical Award Amount: $750 Provides scholarships to students from Washington High School, with preference given to those who attended the Johnson School for the Arts. Primary considerations for the scholarship will include a clear demonstration of community involvement, a broad base of co-curricular activities that illustrates a compassionate array of friendships, including various ethnic and economic backgrounds, a tendency toward overcoming obstacles with grace and compassion, strength, endurance and kindness in the face of adversity. Applications must be submitted to your High School Counselor.
JOSLIN SCHOLARSHIP Established in 1996 by Mildred Joslin. This scholarship is awarded to recipients that show serious financial need and are graduates of high schools in the Cedar Rapids Community School District. The scholarship supports the pursuit of post-high school education at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Kirkwood financial aid office will recommend students based on a combination of financial need and academic achievement. HENRY AND SARA KATZ SCHOLARSHIP Typical Award Amount: $500 Established in 2006 this scholarship is awarded to graduating high school seniors seeking a degree at an accredited college in Linn County, Iowa. Consideration is given to both scholastic achievement and financial need.
KLEIMAN FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP Typical Award Amount: Full tuition, not to exceed $5,000 Established in 1998 by Clara and Thomas Kleiman and members of the Kleiman Family. This scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior from Cedar Rapids Washington, Jefferson, Kennedy or Xavier High School or from the Linn-Mar, College Community or Marion school districts. Although scholastic achievement, class ranking, and demonstration of financial need are of consideration, leadership and character qualities are of greater consideration. Also included in the consideration criteria will be some demonstration of a supportive family in assisting the recipient to achieve his/her scholastic and life goals. Recipient must attend the Iowa State University, The University of Iowa, or The University of Northern Iowa. A Selection Committee from each high school will nominate an individual for final selection. The scholarship is renewable for up to three years based upon the recipient's achievement and performance. KOMENSKY SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP Typical Award Amount: $500 Established in 2001. Applicants shall be recent graduates of any public, private or parochial high school within Linn County, Iowa who will be a full-time student at any college, university, or other qualified vocational educational institution located within the State of Iowa. Preference is given to applicants with some Czech, Slovak, or Moravian heritage.
LAVENZ MEMORIAL InCOURAGE SCHOLARSHIP Typical Award Amount: $1,000 The Lavenz Memorial InCourage Scholarship program awards scholarships to students that have demonstrated courage, perseverance, and resilience in the face of medical adversity in the form of cancer or another serious or life-threatening illness or injury with themselves or in their immediate family during their high-school career. This scholarship is open to last-year students of Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School and also to recent graduates of Cedar Rapids Kennedy that were forced to postpone additional education because of their medical hardship. The applicant must plan to attend a two or four-year accredited undergraduate institution. Applications must be submitted to Kennedy High School.
MERVEAUX SCHOLARSHIP Typical Award Amount: $3,000 Established in 2003 to benefit children of low-income families. The scholarship will be awarded to graduating Linn County high school seniors or residents of Linn County who have attained a GED certificate. In addition to financial need, consideration will be given to the applicant's demonstration of community mindedness, respect and consideration for others by participation in community organizations or another appropriate attestation. Recipient must be accepted as a full-time undergraduate or post-graduate student at a fully accredited, non-profit, vocational school, technical school, community college, college, or university.
OUTSTANDING STUDENT LEADER SCHOLARSHIP Typical Award Amount: $1,000 Established in 2008 to carry forward the spirit of the Outstanding Student Leader and Special Teacher Recognition. This scholarship is awarded to graduating high school seniors from public or private high schools in Linn County who have demonstrated leadership in and outside of high school. Students must rank in the top 1/3 of graduating class, have a GPA of 3.0 or above and attend an accredited college, university, or vocational school in the US.
QUARTON-McELROY IOWA BROADCASTERS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP Established in 1993 to provide recognition and financial assistance to deserving Iowa High School Graduates or Iowa students enrolled in two-year or four-year Iowa colleges, technical schools, and universities. VERN W. REEDER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Typical Award Amount: $5,000 Awarded to a senior in the Cedar Rapids Community School District. Student must be accepted as a full-time undergraduate or post-graduate student at a fully-accredited, non-profit vocational school, technical school, community college, college, or university. Awards are based on merit and financial need.

LOUIS JOSEPH AND ELMER MARVIN ROSENBAUM MEMORIAL FUND Typical Award Amount: $5,000 Established in 1999. The purpose of this fund is to provide scholarships for students who have lost through death or other tragic circumstance the support of one or both parents. Scholarship is renewable based on academic performance. Must demonstrate financial need.
THE GLENN AND MARY WENDLER SCHOLARSHIP Typical Award Amount: $700 Established in 2001 as post-secondary scholarships for graduates of Clear Creek-Amana, Linn County or Iowa County who intend to pursue a career in engineering, architecture or construction. Preference shall be given first on the basis of financial need, second on the basis of volunteerism, and third on the basis of academic performance. Must be accepted as a full-time undergraduate or post-graduate student at an accredited vocational school, community college, college or university.
ZETA PHI ETA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Established in 1994 for students in the Performing and Communicative Arts. Applicants must be University of Iowa students seeking a Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Dance, Music or Theatre Arts.
