What is an affiliate fund? To give eastern Iowans outside Cedar Rapids and Linn County access to the services and benefits of a community foundation, our staff helps other areas develop their own community endowments in affiliation with The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation (GCRCF). The affiliates are locally governed and directed toward local needs. GCRCF serves as fiduciary and provides technical assistance and guidance.
GCRCF holds funds for community affiliates in Mount Pleasant, Anamosa, and Keokuk, Iowa. GCRCF also holds county funds for Linn County, Jones County, and the Wapello County Community Foundation.
Who benefits from the affiliate funds? Residents within the local community or county benefit from the endowment funds created within their affiliate fund in two major ways: (1) by grants awarded to support local needs; and (2) by having easy access to a vehicle with maximum tax advantages through which gifts can be donated and placed in a permanent endowment for the betterment of their communities or counties.
Through affiliation with GCRCF, less populous cities can enjoy the many benefits of a community foundation, while avoiding the costs and administrative concerns of operating a separate foundation.
Who establishes the affiliate funds? A volunteer group of local residents formed each community affiliate fund.
Who manages each affiliate fund? A local board or committee guides each affiliate fund, with technical assistance and support services provided by GCRCF. The contacts for our affiliate funds are listed below:
